The goal was Greenville some 29.8miles away from Rockwall and we were on route 66 all day. Not much shoulder for a start but not heaps of traffic and rolling hills with lots of farms all day long. We both started well and were moving nicely.
Then I had a little problem pop up again, My left hamstring decided it wanted to give me trouble again. Not sure why or what upset it but it came in strong. I slowed straight away so I wouldn’t push it. I thought straight away that I would have to walk the rest of the day which I was a little sad as we had a shorter day already and was keen to chill in the hotel when we finished. Never mind at least I could move forward aye.
We past though a lot of small towns and this one cow had the longest horns I have ever seen, check out the white one.
There were lots of animals today but we couldn’t get any of them to come say hi. Vanessa tried with apples but they still said no.
You can see me struggling in this first photo, talking to my hamstring asking him to keep going and sure enough he did, I was able to run slow but at least it was faster than walking. Thanks to Pat for waiting for me and keeping me going.
Now Pat told me this is a opossum but this isn’t what they look like in NZ, looks like a big rat to me. a dead big rat , there was a bit of road kill today.
We got into Greenville which was a cool little town with lots of history and we got the 29.8 miles done in just over 7 hours. Not bad I thought as i was not moving really at all. Right next to our hotel which was sponsored to us by the JDK Team and my awesome sponsor was this BBQ place and we couldn’t say no. Me, Shacky and our special guest Lincoln had to go try some Texas BBQ. First time since being here. The ribs were awesome and the Baked potato with meat on it was great and so much that I couldn’t eat it all.
So another good day done and one more before we get a day off. I think I need it as the body is hurting a little, nothing some massage and relaxing won’t fix. Big thanks to Shacky and Vanessa for crewing us again today, awesome as always. Excited for tomorrow to have Lincoln on the road with us tomorrow. Welcome to him all the way from Australia.
