26th March – Numazu to Hiroshima to Fukuoka

I have just had this whole blog lost so now am writing it again, not a good start.
Well I left Numazu at 6am and I had a 10 hour drive ahead of me. My goal was Hiroshima. As I left Numazu Mt Fuji was out and looking as beautiful as it could.

Along the way I passed alot of places that I will run through. I must have passed through 100 tunnels on my way too – they don’t go over the hills like we do back home which makes for a quicker trip that’s for sure. It was a long day and to be honest not a lot went on. Here are a few shots I took along the way.

I made it to Kumano where I plan to leave the van round 5pm but its was a very spread out town and I got lost real fast. So I stopped at a chemist and asked for help. There I met Ohiwa san who was about to go home, but after seeing where I had to go she offered to take me there, I couldn’t believe it as it was a 20 minute drive away. She was so nice – Ohiwa san here in the white. Thank you so so much.

Once we made it there I met the Tokunara family, they were super nice. They had only known about me and that I was coming for 2 days and when I turned up a bit early at first they were shocked but just welcomed me in and sorted everything out. I will leave the van here with them as I don’t have anyone to drive it for me for the first month. I have a friend Miki who is going to try and meet me around the Hiroshima area at the end of April when I make it there. Can’t thank Miki enough for that.
So then we went out for dinner and I had an amazing feed. Thank you so much Tokunara family and to Jun in Fukushima for first giving me the van, and then sorting a place for it to live for a month.

Then I was on the train and heading even more south to Fukuoka. I thought I might as well get to here and then tomorrow would be easy. It was an hour on the bullet train but when you look at the map it is a long way down. I have never been this far south so I was excited about everything from now. Once I made Fukuoka it was 11:30pm and I was so tired, but everything had worked out and I was on line to get to Okinawa. Oh one thing, first I had to buy a flight there for the morning. I wasn’t sure if I would make it here so hadn’t even bought a ticket yet. Got that sorted and off to bed it was.
